For me, particular joy of the harvest has been to transform fresh mature jalapenos into dried chipotle peppers. The smoky flavor they provide to food is so alluring to the taste buds. I use whole peppers to cook meals from scratch, but I also pulverized them with an old coffee grinder so I can shake them onto sandwiches and individual platters to enhance the taste. This year on a whim, I also decided to smoke the cherry chili peppers on a mid October Saturday morning.

So I crushed the cherry pepper into a paper towel for some fine dust particles and sprinkled them onto a medium slice of Fuji apple and took the bite. The apple sweet combined with the mild chili heat was gloriously intoxicating. As I savored the taste of this new union, a vividly clear epiphany unfolded in my mind. “You have access to land to grow chilies and the resource of trees that have been toppled to smoke the fruit. Make a way on this path or work for someone else”.

With that vision Rosetta’s Spice Farm was born. With it we honor my mother who cooked with love and savored flavor. So I began to develop chili blends of savory and baking spices to enhance taste while enjoying the health benefits of chili peppers. And it was the best legacy my mother could ever have passed on to me!

I’m Wendy Kuchnicki, and I am your go-to Kitchen Guru for all of your tough mealtime challenges.  I now have my own direct sales business selling Pampered Chef and this is the best job I have ever had.  How did I get here?  If you had asked me 5 years ago “what do you think of being in sales”, my reply would have been “seriously, me?  I am not a saleswoman!”.
In a previous life I had a full time job as a chemist, then as a QA auditor, for a large pharmaceutical company.  I retired when my third son was born as day care was no longer affordable.  I was a stay at home mom for 8 years, then fell into a part time job as an office manager for my neighbor who is an exterminator.  By the time I left in 2016 I was running his office and making all of his important business decisions for a small hourly wage. I also had very little flexibility in my work schedule because he needed someone in the office to answer the phone. When I realized how much responsibility I had running someone else’s business, I thought, “why should I build someone else’s company when I can build my own?”.  Of course that leads to the most important question:  What do I want to do instead???  What is my passion?  What will I enjoy, and what products will I use in my own home as well as sell?  Then I got an email from a Pampered Chef Director who’s party I had attended and I thought “THAT’S IT!”.  I love to cook and bake, and I love to entertain.  What could be better than to cook and entertain in someone else’s house?   It is almost 3 years since I signed on with Pampered Chef and I love this business.  I help people with their kitchen challenges and get to do something I love every day.

It was 1979 and a smart business idea called cabinet refacing had captured Jost Fleck’s imagination. “Joe,” as he preferred to be called, recognized it as a smart way for homeowners to have a new kitchen that might otherwise have been beyond their budget. Instead of tearing out the whole kitchen, sturdy cabinets could be covered. He realized, though, that consumers might worry that was only a temporary solution, so he devised a method for cabinet refacing that was so reliable and permanent he backed it with a Lifetime of Home Ownership Warranty.

His wife Reine and their three daughters, Cindy, Renate and Lotte, helped him open a tiny, low-budget basement office in Allentown, Pennsylvania that he nicknamed the “Mole Hole.” They soon discovered the subterranean headquarters to be so flood prone that any heavy rain would have furniture floating around the room. Despite such setbacks, Joe wagered everything the family had on the chance that his full-page newspaper ad would make the phones ring.

He made his first sales on the power of his enthusiasm alone. And as he worked from his second-hand desk (yes, we still have that old desk), Joe co-coordinated the installations of the very first Kitchen Magic kitchens. Believing that customer referrals and testimonials would be better than any advertising he could pay for, he promised and delivered stellar results.

So began the Kitchen Magic tradition of over-delivering on promises, and the story of hard work and passion that overcame the darkness of a ‘Mole Hole’ for the light of success.
